Inventory — Overview

The Inventory section tracks where packages physically sit inside your warehouse, once they've been organized into named storage locations — separate from a package's logistics status (Logged, Received, Shipped, and so on).

Sub-Sections

Section Purpose
Inventory View A flat, searchable list of every package currently sitting in a storage location
Locations Create and browse storage locations, and see what's stored at each one
Inventory Sessions An audited count/scan session — open a session, scan packages into locations, and review exceptions
Move Package Quickly relocate a single package to a different location, outside of a formal session

Locations

A location is any named place packages can be stored — a shelf, bin, rack, or room. Each location has:

  • A Location ID (its display name) and a barcode used for scanning
  • An optional description, type, and parent location (for nesting, such as a bin inside a rack)
  • Optional capacity (quantity and/or weight) — for your own reference
  • A flag marking it the default location — see Locations

Two Ways to Move Packages

CustomerManager gives you two different tools for putting a package into a location, depending on what you're doing:

Tool Use it when…
Move Package You're relocating packages one at a time, casually, with no audit record needed beyond the current session
Inventory Sessions You're doing a formal, trackable count — for example, a periodic warehouse audit — and want a record of who scanned what, when, and any exceptions found

Who can manage sessions?

Opening, closing, or deleting an Inventory Session requires the Manager or Owner role. Any user can still use Move Package and browse Locations and the Inventory View.
